Daphne and Angel Daphne Stevens is a native of Louisiana. Her 15 year painting career began when she moved to Florida. She started taking Tole Painting and Acrylic on Canvas classes at a nearby art store with a girlfriend just for fun. This soon progressed to hand-painted jewelry that became acquired by clients in her hair salon, “Designs by Daphne”. Daphne also received extensive training in oil painting and watercolor. The family relocated to Montgomery, Al where her artwork began selling at local gift shops and galleries. She was also introduced to Porcelain Painting by a lady from a local art guild and became fascinated with this medium.

Once again, the family relocated to Louisiana, close to family and friends. Daphne became very active with two art guilds in the area. The Gonzales Art Guild had many watercolorist and seasoned oil painters. Through this guild, opened opportunities of participating in local juried art shows and art festival events. Several members of this group also belonged to the “ Baton Rouge Porcelain Art Guild”. Daphne was invited to join this club and later served three years as President. The club brought in many accredited artists for seminars throughout each year.

Recently, Daphne was accepted in September 2002 as a member of the “ Louisiana Porcelain Art Teachers”. Membership is limited to 85. She recently taught a porcelain class during the June 2004 session for the Louisiana Teacher’s Association in Alexandria, LA, just before relocating to the New Bern area.

Her web-site www.designsbydaphne.biz includes her personal painted collecion of artwork as well as several published articles in national and international magazines. Daphne has paintings throughout the United States, and is internationally represented in Germany, France, and Trinidad.
