Upon moving to New Bern, our new home had a large wall area in our living room. We decided upon a "bird theme" and I proceeded to paint three, 3 ft. x 5 ft oil paintings of tropical birds on finished edge canvases.

This painting of a sulphur-crested cockatoo was inspired by a trip to Swansboro. The owner raised exotic birds including various species of parrots and cockatoos.

Koi are one of my favorite subjects to paint. I have been commissioned to paint koi and other fish subjects in several mediums for different clients.

This 12 x 12 poppie painting was executed in oil, but under-painted with a water-based sculpure paste. Sculputed paste and a modeling paste mixed together and applied with a palette knife gives a unique texture to canvas paintings.

Toucans are so colorful and exotic. I had a lot of fun working with a palette of bright colors.
